The American Society of Plant Biologists recently solicited community nominations to recognize women who have shaped the field of plant biology. Dr. Anne Fennell, a founding member of all three VitisGen projects, was named as one of these 25 Inspiring Women in Plant Biology.
As one of her nominators wrote, "Anne is an exemplary scientist and mentor who strives to collectively advance both science and the people who do it." We agree, and are so grateful for her expertise on genetic architecture and grapevine dormancy, as well as her openness to trying new techniques and constant support for other women in science.
