Margaret Worthington

Associate Professor, University of Arkansas

Margaret is an associate professor of fruit breeding and genetics at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.  She directs applied cultivar development programs in grapes, muscadine grapes, blackberries, and peaches.  She is particularly interested in working with wide hybrids between the Muscadinia and Vitis genera and developing grapes adapted to the challenging climate of the Southeast US. She is a member of the Breeding & Local Phenotyping Team in the VitisGen project.  She is looking forward to developing populations of table grapes and Vitis x Muscadinia hybrids for fine-mapping disease resistance and fruit quality traits.
