Soon Li Teh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Horticultural Science at the University of Minnesota. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his undergraduate degree in Agronomy and Biochemistry. Dr. Teh then received his PhD in plant breeding and genetics from the University of Minnesota, where he characterized genetic markers and biomarkers associated with grape powdery mildew resistance. Since 2018, he has been running the pear rootstock breeding program at Washington State University to develop dwarfing and precocious rootstocks. His research goals as UMN grape breeder and enologist are to develop cold-hardy, disease-resistance, and high quality wine and table grape cultivars.
